Fund Accountant, Fund Services

Reporting to: Accounts Manager, Fund Services

Qualification & Experience:


  • Higher School Certificate
  • At least 2 years’ experience in the role.
  • Committed to studying further and relevant accounting qualifications.
  • Knowledge of PFS Paxus would be preferred

Purpose of the Job:

The incumbent will work collaboratively and pro-actively within the established Fund Services team in Mauritius. The Company intends to provide the full range of fund administration, accounting and investor services, predominately to the full range of fund structures.

Main Responsibilities
:

  • Be an integral part of the Fund Services Team coordinating client service, taking responsibility for assigned deadlines and the overall quality of deliverables to support SpearFin’s ever-growing and diversified international client base.


  • Deliver high quality services to SpearFin’s clients for the full life cycle of operations, from take-on, to business-as-usual and on to termination.


  • Assist with ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and with the relevant short, medium and long-term goals, objectives and values of the organisation.

  • To support the administration of a portfolio of Fund structures and other entities to ensure all investor services related activities fall within the guidelines/stipulations of the statutory or governing documents.

Job Title:

Assistant Fund Accountant, Fund Services

Department: Fund Services

Reporting to: Accounts Manager, Fund Services

Qualification & Experience:


  • Qualification & Experience:
  • Higher School Certificate/ ACCA studies or Degree in Finance/Accounting
  • At least 1 year of experience
  • Committed to studying further and relevant accounting qualifications

Other requisites & skills:

  • Fluent in oral and written English and French
  • Dynamic, committed and pro-active
  • Able to work and deliver under pressure with tight deadlines
  • Good team player, with strong customer service drive

Main Responsibilities
:

  • To assist in handling the day-to-day management and administration of global business companies under the supervision of the Manager.

  • To assist in responding to audit queries and preparing documentation.

  • To assist in preparing Share Registry Packs.

  • Book-keeping of all transactions and activity across a range of funds.

  • Prepare bank payment and ensure necessary supporting documents (including KYC documents) are obtained and attached for an efficient review process.

  • To assist in carrying out due diligence exercise as per established procedures.

  • To assist in providing company secretarial duties in line with prevailing legislations.

  • Ensure that SpearFin policy and procedures are adhered to.

Compliance Officer

Skills, Competencies and Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree minimum, AML/ Compliance related qualification preferred
  • Preferably a minimum of 3-6 years of experience in a similar position or relevant experience
  • You are fluent both written and oral in English
  • You are able to provide work of high and consistent quality, often with tight deadlines
  • You like reading and analysing regulation

Main Responsibilities
:

  • Assist in ensuring that the Company adheres to and operates within all regulatory requirement (FSC).
  • Drafting and maintaining of the AML and Compliance related policy and procedures
  • Perform/Review name screening, searches and verifying possible matches on screening tool  and on Google internet for every new client enquiry, on-boarding and periodic review.
  • Perform/Review Risk Assessment on each new and existing client mandate, for new client on-boarding and at every mandate review.
  • To assist in conducting Business Risk Assessment and also any other compliance reviews (including file reviews) as being mandated by the Board of Directors or Senior Management
  • Review Know Your Clients (“KYC”) documentation and assess its completeness, appropriateness, and reasonableness, including Source of Wealth (“SOW”) corroboration where applicable, verifying client due diligence measures have been performed and that Local Regulator (FSC) standards and requirement are complied with.
  • Maintaining KYC Documents on a secured database -File Review (including world –check and sanction list screening).
  • Provide Management with regular compliance reports highlighting any gaps or trends and propose remedial actions for validation.
  • Drafting of Key operating procedures for new clients and KOPs update.
  • Carrying out Due Diligence on client accounts and Company.
    Taking care of all FATCA and CRS aspects including reporting obligations.
  • MLRO responsible person for local regulator.
  • Provide training to the business on compliance matters.
  • Provide advice and support to the business on compliance matters.
  • Support Management in Incident Management processes,
  • Complaint Handling processes and for Data Protection matters.
  • New projects as assigned on a case-by-case basis such as remediation work to refresh all files.

  • Develop an understanding of clients’ organisations; understand clients’ expectations in line with the client service agreements.
  • Help ensure the service delivery is consistently met or exceeded.
  • Help the team Manager with client issues ensuring appropriate resolution, including regular liaison with clients, relationship managers and other operational managers to provide a seamless service.
